N o one understood the terms of the biblical covenant better than David. In 1 Samuel 18:3, David made his historic covenant with Jonathan: “Then Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself.” In 2 Samuel 7:16, David was gracefully granted a covenant with God: “Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever.”
